AICA Portfolio Showcase 2026

August 26
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for the 2026 AICA Portfolio Showcase—our annual spotlight on the next generation of theatre technicians, and an opportunity for anyone who hires technical theatre talent to meet and recruit from a hire-ready cohort trained in lighting, audio, carpentry, scenic painting, props, costuming, stage management, and more.

This cohort has already worked as professional theatre technicians with esteemed performing arts organizations and venues across the DMV, including: Atlas Performing Arts Center, Capital One Hall, Complete Fabrications, Ford’s Theatre, GALA Hispanic Theatre, IATSE Local 22, Mosaic Theater, NextStop Theatre Company, Round House Theatre, Spooky Action Theatre, Studio Theatre, Theatre Washington, and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

At the showcase, meet the graduates from the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement’s Class of 2026. Each graduate will give a brief presentation highlighting their portfolio, areas of expertise, and work samples. After the presentations, guests will have an opportunity to meet, mingle, and interview them.

About the AICA

Launched in 2023, the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement (AICA) is a paid workforce development and apprenticeship program in technical theatre production for young adults ages 18-25 who have encountered obstacles to livable wage employment. To date, 87% of AICA graduates are working consistently in professional theatre and event venues.

This groundbreaking career-readiness program was formed by the founding members of the DC Arts Education Alliance and is led by The Theatre Lab, Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, and Life Pieces To Masterpieces. The AICA proudly brings together over 30 of the DMV region’s most respected theaters and arts institutions to provide our apprentices with high-quality training, career development, and opportunities for employment.
