Deadline: Audition for Acting in a Professional Production

August 21
All Day

Want to work with esteemed DC directors and actors this fall? One of The Theatre Lab’s signature adult programs, Acting in a Professional Production challenges students to learn, rehearse, and perform a series of public staged readings alongside professional actors.

Under the direction of Theatre Lab Co-Executive Director Deb Gottesman, students will explore topics such as: the expectations involved in professional work, how to make strong acting choices within a compressed schedule, and the specific demands of staged readings versus full productions.

This fall, Acting in a Professional Production will have students perform four great plays of modern theatre, each of which explores unique ways of “framing” the human experience. Joining the students on stage will be four acclaimed DC theatre artists:

September 29 — Framing the News
The Front Page by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur
featuring guest artist Michael Russotto as Walter Burns

October 6 — Framing the Self
Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello
featuring guest artist Thomas Adrian Simpson as Father

October 13 — Framing the Past
The History Boys by Alan Bennett
featuring guest artist Buzz Mauro as Hector

October 20 — Framing the Art
Museum by Tina Howe
featuring guest artist Kim Schraf as Chloe

Submit your video auditions by August 21. Classes begin September 24. Auditions are beginner-friendly, and many roles will exist for all types of performers!
