In celebration of our 30th anniversary, The Theatre Lab has launched The Creative Impact Fund with the goal of raising $100,000 for strategic initiatives in 2022–2023. We invite you to invest in our vision for the future of theatre education in Washington, DC and in the impact of transformative theatre education experiences for all.
For 30 years The Theatre Lab has provided the Washington metro area with award-winning dramatic arts education and life-changing opportunities for creative self-expression. What makes The Theatre Lab unique is its commitment to using theatre education to create a community of inclusion and belonging, especially for our region’s most vulnerable, and to develop a next generation of artists who are prepared to tell stories that speak to our shared humanity. Each year, we offer more than $150,000 in need-based scholarships to young people, removing systemic financial barriers to arts participation. Through our groundbreaking Life Stories® programs , we also teach hundreds of people to create original works of dramatic art based on their lived experiences—including young men in prison, low-income seniors, wounded veterans, unhoused women in addiction recovery, and many others whose voices are too frequently ignored.
Throughout the pandemic, The Theatre Lab never closed its doors, bringing the joy of creative connection to more than 4,000 youth, adults, and seniors. As we emerge from a period of social isolation with grave economic, societal, and mental health consequences, the need for equitable theatre education is stronger than ever. LEADERSHIP 30 CIRCLE
The top 30 donors to the Fund will be recognized at this elite level in all Theatre Lab printed and
digital publications through the year 2023, highlighting their transformative impact on our work.
JUSTICE LEAGUE ($30,000+)
Donors who give $30,000 or more will receive unique naming rights for an ongoing Life Stories®
program of their choice, serving vulnerable and underrepresented youth and adults in the DC
region, plus all benefits below.
ACCESS ACES ($10,000+)
Donors who give $10,000 or more will receive naming rights for a Theatre Lab scholarship fund,
ensuring the region’s underserved youth have access to summer and school-break programs,
plus all benefits below.
IMPACT MAKERS ($5,000+)
Donors who give $5,000 or more will receive a tile on the Wall of Fame outside The Theatre Lab’s
dedicated offices and classroom, plus all benefits below.
SUSTAINERS ($1,000+)
Donors who give $1,000 or more will receive 2 tickets to each of The Theatre Lab’s student
productions and invitations to all Theatre Lab VIP events in 2022–2023.
