October 2021: Development News
Date
October 14, 2021The Theatre Lab is proud to have received $15,000 in general operating support from The Arts Forward Fund, a collaborative partnership between The Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, Greater Washington Community Foundation, and other individual and institutional contributors, whose purpose is to provide resources to help arts and culture organizations in the DC region make essential shifts needed to continue their work despite the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to respond to the national movement for racial justice.
The Theatre Lab also received $18,000 from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities to continue our partnership with DC Public Schools to offer Life Stories programs, in which underheard and underseen communities create and perform original dramatic works based on lived experience. In addition to working directly with students, we will continue our work training teachers in the District to utilize the proven power of the dramatic arts to reconnect vulnerable students who have become disengaged during the pandemic.
The Marjorie P. Jones Foundation awarded The Theatre Lab a generous grant of $15,000 to support our youth scholarship programs and our community Life Stories programs offered in partnership with area youth-serving social service organizations.
Finally, we are grateful to the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for providing $135,000 in general operating support to The Theatre Lab.
