The AICA Receives $50,000 in Funding from The National Endowment of the Arts

The Arts Institute for Creative Advancement to Receive $50,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

Washington, D.C. — The Theatre Lab is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $50,000.

This grant will support the 2024 cohort of the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement. In total, the NEA will award 958 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $27.1 million that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

“The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement, which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are pleased to be able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.”

The Arts Institute for Creative Advancement is a collective impact initiative designed to address two major problems facing our city: 1) the number of young people whose futures were adversely impacted by the pandemic, and 2) the shortage of skilled technical labor that is crippling local theatres. We are grateful to our many partners from the DC Arts Education Alliance for working with us to create and implement this program, especially our core partners The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Life Pieces To Masterpieces, and Sitar Arts Center.
