Free Circlesinging Workshop
Date
April 5Time
10:30 am - 12:00 pmJoin us for a morning of spontaneous art-making and community-building! This free workshop will have you creating unique and inspiring communal soundscapes in the joyous tradition of Bobby McFerrin's revolutionary Circlesongs. No experience or "talent" required!
Group leader Steve Quintilian says, "Maybe the 'singing' part of Circlesinging makes you think it's a choir or a glee club or something like that. It’s not. It's a dynamic, collaborative, creative space. It’s voicework, improv and movement all rolled into one. Being in the circle gets you out of your head and into the moment. It can help you calm your performance nerves. It will build your collaborative skills. Yes there’s singing. There’s also storytelling, sound effects, body percussion, movement, anything else you want to bring to the circle.
Dozens of people took part the last time we offered this free workshop, and many of them told us that they had more fun than they could have expected and left refreshed and inspired. The workshop will again be led by Steve, this time in collaboration with the students in his current intensive Circlesinging course at The Theatre Lab.
Saturday, April 5, 10:30-12noon.
