Steve McBride
An introduction to reading music and understanding how it works—designed especially for actors and performers who want greater confidence with the musical side of theatre. Students will learn the fundamentals of rhythm, pitch, notation, key signatures, musical terminology, and score reading in a practical, approachable environment. Perfect for performers interested in musical theatre, choir, or vocal study, this course will help demystify sheet music, help you follow that crazy music director in rehearsal, and strengthen overall musicianship.
Unless otherwise indicated below, there are no formal prerequisites for this class—students of all experience levels are welcome! However, if you have no prior acting experience, we suggest taking Intro to Acting and/or Beginning Scene Study to introduce you to core techniques and help you build confidence in the fundamentals of acting.
