Overview
Our fun and fast-paced introduction to what acting is all about. For anyone who’s ever wanted to give acting a try—or those who haven’t done it since that one time in high school. Students will be introduced to all the fundamental skills, plus the basics of auditioning and “the business of the business.” Taken together or in succession, this course and Beginning Scene Study constitute essential training in the basics of the actor’s craft.
Class Size*
6-16
* Note: Small class sizes are a fundamental part of our training philosophy at The Theatre Lab. Classes are intentionally kept small to ensure every person receives extensive personalized feedback from instructors and meaningful collaboration with other students. If a class is full, we encourage you to join the waitlist, and we will contact you if a spot becomes available.
Prerequisites or Prior Experience
No formal prerequisites are necessary. This class is designed for newcomers with no prior acting experience. Students in this class have often taken our introductory Anyone Can Act workshop.
Recommended Next Steps
Students who complete this class often continue with:
- Beginning Scene Study*
- Improv for the Actor
- Getting Started in TV and Film
* Note: For new students with no prior acting experience, we recommend starting with Intro to Acting, and then taking Beginning Scene Study, for our essential training in the basics of acting.
