Deidra LaWan Starnes

This course is designed to improve student performance in all the major aspects of auditioning for the theatre: monologues, cold readings, and “in the room” demeanor—whether you’re auditioning in person, virtually, or for a self-tape. The learning emphasis will be on practical skill-building, making the most of your rehearsal time, and overcoming psychological and emotional barriers to giving your best performance.

Unless otherwise indicated below, there are no formal prerequisites for this class—students of all experience levels are welcome! However, if you have no prior acting experience, we suggest taking Intro to Acting and/or Beginning Scene Study to introduce you to core techniques and help you build confidence in the fundamentals of acting.
