6th-8th Grade: Improv!

Get ready to think fast, take creative risks, and have fun! In this energetic improv class, students will explore both short-form and long-form improvisation while building confidence, collaboration, and quick-thinking skills. Through a variety of games, exercises, and scenes, students will learn the fundamentals of saying “yes, and,” creating strong characters, making bold choices, and working together to create spontaneous comedy. Students will experience the fast-paced fun of short-form improv games while also learning how to develop ideas, characters, and relationships into longer, more connected long-form scenes and stories. They’ll also explore how improvisation can be used as both a comedic and dramatic tool, discovering how spontaneity can create laughter, deepen characters, and tell meaningful stories. No scripts, no memorization, just imagination, teamwork, and plenty of laughter!

The class will culminate in an open sharing for families, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their improv skills and share some of the fun they’ve created throughout the class.

At The Theatre Lab, we believe that theatre education should be accessible to all. We strive to offer as much need-based financial aid as possible. If attending our courses at full price would be difficult for you, we encourage you to apply for assistance here.

Theatre Lab members receive a 10% discount off of school year class tuition, automatically applied at checkout. Annual memberships cost only $70 per year and also include discounted tickets to all Theatre Lab performances. Membership discounts do not apply to summer or spring break camps tuition.
