Session Details
A New Brain is a lesser-known masterpiece by the creator of Falsettos and The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. This beautiful comedy centers queer characters while making room for a wide range of people (and one frog), takes on life-or-death issues—the main character is dealing with brain cancer—and offers great opportunities for eleven actor/singers of all types who are up for a challenge. The gorgeous music includes classics like “Heart and Music,” “I’d Rather Be Sailing,” and “I Feel So Much Spring.”
The format of the course, culminating in a high-quality staged reading at the end of a single week, requires focus and a lot of homework, but if last year’s reading of Sondheim’s Company is any guide, the payoff will be a performance that’s incredibly rewarding for performers and audience alike.
