John Judy
An intensive course in acting for the screen. Students will rehearse scenes from plays, teleplays, and screenplays with special attention to what makes acting work well on camera. Work will be videotaped and playbacks will be analyzed. Some outside rehearsal required.
Unless otherwise indicated below, there are no formal prerequisites for this class—students of all experience levels are welcome! However, if you have no prior acting experience, we suggest taking Intro to Acting and/or Beginning Scene Study to introduce you to core techniques and help you build confidence in the fundamentals of acting.

John Judy
John Judy is a DC area actor-writer-director who has also performed in LA and Chicago. Notable credits include HBO’s Veep, House of Cards, Homicide: Life on the Street, and writing and performing in over 150 original sketch shows at the IO West Theatre in Hollywood. John has taught at Imagination Stage, the Rockville Jewish Community Center, and the Smithsonian Associates Summer Program. His on-camera work includes the Netflix movie Rustin, the indie crime drama Volkov: Origin, Lovely Molly, a supernatural thriller from the creators of The Blair Witch Project and the award-winning short film Invasion ’53 which has played at film festivals around the world, including the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con. Onstage John’s recent work includes the role of EDDIE in “Shear Madness” at the Kennedy Center and the continuing role of the Detective in Murder Mystery USA's DC area touring company.
