Instructor

José Carrasquillo

The acting technique developed by legendary theatre artist Jerzy Grotowski aims for complete integration of the actor’s mental and physical senses to reveal the core substance of a character. This specialized course presents a bold and experimental approach based on Stephen Wangh’s interpretations of Grotowski’s methods in his book An Acrobat of the Heart. Sessions and assignments involve moderate to strenuous exercises, improvisations and scene work.

Unless otherwise indicated below, there are no formal prerequisites for this class—students of all experience levels are welcome! However, if you have no prior acting experience, we suggest taking Intro to Acting and/or Beginning Scene Study to introduce you to core techniques and help you build confidence in the fundamentals of acting.
