The Theatre Lab’s summer camps are fun, creative, and high energy programs that allow young actors to fully engage their imaginations and experience the thrill of live theatre. Novices and experienced young actors alike will learn to harness their creativity and build their confidence all while having a great time in a safe and fun environment. It’s a summer your child will never forget!
Taught by some of Washington’s top theatre professionals, our teaching staff is made up of artists who have a passion for working with a diverse population of young people. They are experienced not only in the world of theatre, but also in working with young actors of all experience levels. Our teaching approach is process-based, which allows students to experience the real-life benefits of theatre including building their social and developmental, problem solving, and communication skills.
Campers participate in a wide variety of theatre activities including improvisation, scene study, storytelling, character creation, movement and more–all taught by caring teaching artists who are dedicated to meeting each child at their level. Classes emphasize drama games and exercises designed to increase spontaneity, engage the imagination, promote self-confidence and encourage ensemble building. At the end of each session, students present their work in a final sharing.
At The Theatre Lab, we also understand that kids can’t live by drama alone. That is why each day also includes group games, outdoor activities, art projects, and social time.
Each session has a different theme and is structured so that students can attend more than one session if they choose.
No prior drama experience is required.
