The Theatre Lab’s Life Stories® Program and the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement to receive Grant awards from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Washington, D.C.—The Theatre Lab is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000 to support The Theatre Lab’s Life Stories Program. The Grant also includes $55,000 towards the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement.

In total, the NEA will award 958 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $27.1 million that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

“The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to The Theatre Lab and Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said former National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are pleased to be able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.”

In January, the Arts Institute for Creative Advancement welcomed a new cohort of students for our third year of paid technical theatre training and apprenticeships—an exciting step in building the next generation of theatre professionals. We are deeply grateful to the NEA for their continued support in making this work possible!
