A workshop in all aspects of musical theatre performance, with a special focus on the great works of mid–20th century Broadway: Rodgers & Hammerstein, Rodgers & Hart, Lerner & Loewe, Frank Loesser, Meredith Willson, …. Special attention to exploring the contemporary relevance of works that are too often dismissed as “old–fashioned.” A class for anyone who loves the classic musicals and wants to get better at performing them.

* Note: Small class sizes are a fundamental part of our training philosophy at The Theatre Lab. Classes are intentionally kept small to ensure every person receives extensive personalized feedback from instructors and meaningful collaboration with other students. If a class is full, we encourage you to join the waitlist, and we will contact you if a spot becomes available.
No formal prerequisites are necessary. Students who take this class typically have some background experience in musical theatre, acting, and/or have taken one of the following classes at The Theatre Lab:
* Note: For new students with no prior acting experience, we recommend starting with Intro to Acting, and then taking Beginning Scene Study, for our essential training in the basics of acting.

Studio Theatre: A Class Act (Helen Hayes Award nomination), Caroline or Change, Reefer Madness, (Helen Hayes Award nomination); Ford’s: Elmer Gantry, 1776, A Christmas Carol; Round House: A Year with Frog and Toad (Helen Hayes Award nomination); MetroStage: Musical of Musicals (Helen Hayes Award nomination); The Kennedy Center: The Happy Prince, The Flea and the Professor; Signature: 20 shows including Titanic, Disney's Freaky Friday, La Cage aux Folles (Helen Hayes Award), and Spin (Helen Hayes Award). He is an artistic associate at Olney Theatre where he was nominated for Helen Hayes Awards in The Sound of Music and Annie. He has directed and choreographed across the nation and received the 2013, 2014, 2017 Helen Hayes Award.
