This performance is the culmination of our Art of Cabaret class. Cabaret is the art of storytelling through music, while making an intimate and personal connection with the audience. Each song—any kind of song—is a self-contained story sung from the singer’s perspective. This hands-on course explores all the many elements of cabaret performance, such as choosing material that suits each individual performer, applying a variety of methods to explore and practice songs, writing “patter,” i.e. spoken or sung dialogue between songs, structuring a song set, and rehearsing and performing in a public production.
