Kids at Summer Camp 2016
“To see her on stage today, you would have never known how much she struggled with speaking in front of a group. Thank you for helping her build her confidence!”

Classes for Kids (Grades 1-8)

Each year more than 200 young people take part in our camps and classes for kids and tweens. The secret to our success with this age group? We believe that young artists, whether new to the craft or brimming with experience, deserve a place where they can be challenged. A place where they can develop superior theatre skills while learning to take artistic risks, explore new creative paths, and have fun doing it! Our programs meet students wherever they are and give them the tools to take their artistry to the next level. More than a third of all participants in our youth programs receive full or substantial scholarships.

Summer Acting Camp for Kids at Theatre Lab

Recognized by The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities as one of the 50 “top arts and humanities-based programs in the country serving youth outside of school hours,” our youth program is about more than just developing acting skills. Taught by some of Washington’s best-known theatre professionals and educators, our camps and classes emphasize the benefits of drama training both onstage and off—from increased self-confidence and communication and teamwork skills, to a desire to stay active in mind and body.
