Auditioning for Musical Theatre
“A wonderful teacher because of her distinguished professional background and her kindness, warmth, generosity and genuine care for each student’s progress. She has the ability to bring out the best in us by focusing on the good, but also helping us see room for improvement.”
This class focuses on preparing the actor for musical theatre audition and performance, through careful attention to each actor/singer’s strengths and weaknesses. Emphasis will be on music and text interpretation, singing and performance techniques, relaxing and unleashing the voice, and selection of strong material. Students bring at least one memorized musical theatre song to the first class, along with the piano sheet music in the appropriate key, and will work on several songs over the six weeks of the course.
